Mister Victor Provôt, mayor of Thiron-Gardais and President of the Order of Tiron’s Association, and Mister Stephane Bern, honourable member of the association.
The historical association of the Order of Tiron was organised around the memorie of the Order of Tiron and its mother abbey, from which some ruins still exist today. This site knew a valorisation in the last few years, notably thanks to Stephan Bern’s involvement, who became the owner of the Royal and Military College of Thiron-Gardais, attached to the abbey’s church, chich has could open its doors to the public.
Our missions

- To contact the owners of the 120 old outbuildings in France, in England, in Scotland and in Ireland (Norway and Germany) to research, to collect and to showcase the historical informations about those sites and their connection with the mother abbey. For this, we organise a study trip each year.
- To organise, in 2014, the 900th anniversary of the abbey’s foundation, with the first manifestation which gathered the Order’s outbuildings, at the Pentecost, as the religious used to organise in the past. This event has to reinforce the collaboration beetween all those anciant sites.
- To entertain and developp an european network of the Order’s outbuildings to promote tourism around this heritage on a local scale, even on national and international. This work needs some tools, mediation and communication like this website and a free application allowing to present this unusual and often inaccessible heritage, because private.
- To get involved in the orchard’s preservation, of which the association is the godmother : 50 fruit trees were planted in 2011 at the abbey’s walls. It is planned to install some beehives, some houses for insects, for birds and to plant various varieties of cormiers and wickerwork.
